BOMEX is the national conference of the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada), and one of the biggest annual gatherings in Canadian commercial real estate. In 2026 it ran September 22–24 at Rogers Centre Ottawa, bringing professionals from across the country together for three days of learning, networking, and celebration
The timing made it a special year for the capital. Ottawa was marking the 200th anniversary of Bytown, and BOMA Ottawa was celebrating its 50th anniversary.
One of the conference’s key moments was the BOMA Enspire Awards, presented over a lunch ceremony during the program. The Enspire Awards honour Canadian commercial building owners and managers who are leading the way in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and this year 11 properties were recognized from more than 980 entries.

The goal was to inject some fun and excitement to a conference awards luncheon. That meant welcoming a room of industry leaders from across Canada with fun (but lunchtime appropriate) music, Sharing some fun information about nominees throughout the first half hour, and presenting awards.
Awards ceremonies move quickly, and every name and category needs to land clearly. I worked from a tight run of show, kept transitions smooth between presentations, and kept the energy of the room up through the full ceremony
